WILDLIFE JUSTICE INTERNSHIP
LWT is the Government of Malawi’s lead partner on wildlife legislative and policy updates, court monitoring and prosecutions. This legal internship has been designed for those looking to gain theoretical knowledge and practical experience within a high impact organisation and challenging African environment.
DURATION: 1- 6 months
LOCATION: Lilongwe Wildlife Trust
QUALIFICATION REQUIRED: Currently studying for or holding a relevant legal qualification
THE WORK
Due to the sensitivity of the cases, only Malawian lawyers and monitors are allowed in the courtroom, but you will be kept fully informed of developments and have access to all previous cases. Work will be dependent on the demands of the team which could include the following:
- Analysing courtroom monitoring data
- Drafting submission templates
- Designing standardised court procedures
- Identifying risks of case failure
- Attending workshops
- Legal research
- Policy and advocacy
