CAMPAIGNING FOR CHANGE

We are a force for progress, campaigning across society and partnering with policy makers to make conservation a national priority.

Our programme of campaigning and advocacy inspires action from individuals and communities as well as the highest levels of government.

Our lobbying and advocacy influences policy and legislation and secures political will for transformative change. As Secretariat for the Malawi Parliamentary Conservation Caucus (MPCC) we work with MPs to champion policies that protect nature. Advocacy by the MPCC has helped push through key pieces of legislation, such as the National Parks and Wildlife Act in 2017 and the Forestry Act Amendment Bill in 2020.

We also mobilise actors across society – including universities, schools, local communities and thought leaders – to support our behaviour change campaigns on urgent environmental issues, from wildlife crime to plastic pollution. These campaigns deploy a range of tools and techniques to shift attitudes and behaviours in target audiences, from street theatre and PSAs to radio plays and petitions.

Our campaigns

DON'T EAT BUSHMEAT

"It's illegal, it's dangerous, it carries diseases." Our latest campaign warns against the illegal trade and consumption of bushmeat.

MKANGO: PRIDE OF MALAWI

We're inspiring pride for lions across Malawi through street theatre, solar-powered cinema, radio, media and more.

STOP WILDLIFE CRIME

We're building public awareness of Malawi's tough new laws on wildlife crime and securing political will for their effective enforcement.

BEAT PLASTIC POLLUTION

Harnessing the power of media, research and advocacy, we galvanised public support and political momentum for a new ban on thin plastics.
