MALAWI CONSERVATION EXPERIENCE

This is the perfect trip for animal lovers and adventurous types who want more than the typical ‘safari’ experience. Its suitable for single travellers or couples, and we also welcome parents and children (over 12 yrs) on our selected ‘family’ experiences. The two-week trip combines hands-on work with rescued animals at Malawi’s only wildlife sanctuary and elephant and primate research in the African bush with time to relax on the shores of the famous Lake Malawi.

DURATION: 2 weeks, starting 29 Jan, 12 Mar, 21 May, 10 Sept 2019. Family dates: 9 April, 9 July. Additional dates available for groups of more than 4.

LOCATION: Lilongwe Wildlife Centre, Vwaza Marsh Wildlife Reserve, Lake Malawi

QUALIFICATION REQUIRED: None

THE EXPERIENCE
The sanctuary (6 days)
Learn about vet work and rehabilitation techniques and take part in animal husbandry, orphan care, clinic support, observations and integrations. Spend a day with our education and outreach teams.

The bush (5 days)
Work with our research teams on elephant and primate research at the Malawi Research Institute in Vwaza Marsh Wildlife Reserve.

The lake (2 days)
Spend two days exploring the Lake of Stars. Optional activities include snorkelling, scuba diving, canoeing, boat trips and horse-riding.

Optional safari (3-4 days)
You can also extend your stay with a safari bolt-on to Zambia’s South Luangwa National Park (at an additional cost).
