Things to do
Take your own walking safari on our wilderness trails home to monkeys, duiker, bushpigs, and even wild hyena. The area is also well known for its prolific birdlife and we are keen for birders to visit and help us with identification. There are 6km of trails running alongside the banks of the river and through the woodland. You are welcome to cycle or bring a picnic.
Eat and shop
Relax among the trees at the onsite café. We also have a gift shop at reception with local artisan crafts.
Please note that we have taken the decision to close our sanctuary tours. You can read our statement here.
We are currently redeveloping Lilongwe Wildlife Centre for the benefit of people and wildlife, an initiative known as Project GreenHeart – you can learn more here. As redevelopments are completed, the site will feature a range of new facilities, including an education centre, a playground and an arboretum. There will also be exhibitions, installations and information on a range of environmental issues that will inspire and challenge visitors to take up the mantle of protecting nature!
Please note: entry fees are currently suspended while the Centre is undergoing renovations as part of Project GreenHeart.
There is no entry fee but donations are appreciated and will be used to support our wildlife rescue work. Please leave what you can in the donation box at reception.

Malawi’s wildlife needs you! Whether you give a one-off donation, adopt one of the wildlife residents who call our sanctuary home, commit to an annual membership with us, or join us for a volunteer placement your support will make a huge difference.
Adopting an animal is a fantastic way to support our work at the wildlife centre. All of the animals available for adoption are currently being cared for after being rescued, injured or orphaned. For just £25 per year, an adoption makes a perfect gift for yourself or a loved one, and also makes a real difference for wildlife.
