We are open 365 days a year, 8am to 5pm. Christmas, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day we open late at 11am.
PLEASE NOTE: Due to COVID-19, our sanctuary is in lockdown. You can still access our walking trails and Cuneco Cafe but our reception and gift shop are closed and access to animals is not permitted.
Things to do
Take an hour long guided tour around the wildlife sanctuary, catch sight of our residents and learn about our work in wildlife conservation. Guided tours leave every hour between 9am and 4pm. We can also arrange private tours for larger groups.
Take your own walking safari on our wilderness trails home to monkeys, duiker, bushpigs, and even wild hyena. The area is also well known for its prolific birdlife and we are keen for birders to visit and help us with identification. There are 6km of trails running alongside the banks of the river and through the woodland. You are welcome to cycle or bring a picnic.
Eat, play and shop
Relax among the trees at an onsite restaurant and bar. Owned by the same company as Four Seasons’ Lilongwe Khala restaurant Cuneco Café is famed for its excellent smoothies, coffee and jerk chicken. We also have an interactive playground for children to enjoy and a gift shop at reception with sustainable wares and local artisan crafts. You’ll even find Jalawi – jewellery made by a women’s cooperative in Kasungu from the snares removed by our emergency response team off elephants, zebra, sable and other wildlife that get tangled up all too frequently.

Malawi’s wildlife needs you! Whether you give a one-off donation, adopt one of the wildlife residents who call our sanctuary home, commit to an annual membership with us, or join us for a volunteer placement your support will make a huge difference.
Adopt a sanctuary animal
Adopting an animal is a fantastic way to support our work at the wildlife centre. All of the animals available for adoption are currently being cared for after being rescued, injured or orphaned.
For just £23 per year, an adoption makes a perfect gift for yourself or a loved one, and also makes a real difference for wildlife.
Whether you’re a local resident looking for a low cost way to visit us year round or a supporter from thousands of miles away looking for an easy way to donate annually, a membership is a brilliant way to support our work. Help us to protect Malawi’s natural heritage by opting for a local or international membership.
