HRH Duke of Gloucester
The Duke of Gloucester is the Queen’s cousin and a full-time working member of the Royal Family. He attends national and international events in support of The Queen and her duties as Head of State, as well as undertaking extensive public duties and engagements every year reflecting his own interests and charities. The Duke visited Malawi in 2008 and became a founding patron of Lilongwe Wildlife Trust shortly afterwards.
Virginia McKenna OBE
Following a successful career as an actress, Virginia founded the Born Free Foundation in 1984. Working to save lives, stop suffering and protect species in the wild, it is now one of the world’s most respected wildlife welfare charities and they were instrumental in the establishment of LWT’s Wildlife Centre, Malawi’s first (and still the only) sanctuary for orphaned and injured animals. Virginia continues to and we are honoured that she is one of Lilongwe Wildlife Trust’s founding patrons.
