In celebration of World Environment Day, the Lilongwe Wildlife Trust conducted a series of wildlife quiz events with local schools competing that culminated in a final round at the Wildlife Centre on June 5, 2017.

The Wildlife Quiz is one of the environmental education programmes implemented by Lilongwe Wildlife Trust primarily to increase awareness and understanding of conservation issues and inspire local children to take pride in their natural heritage. The competition targets thousands of secondary school learners within Lilongwe district with a possibility of expansion to cover other districts/regions in the near future.

A total of 13 schools participated and Lilongwe Private School won the final championship round. The grand prizes included: a trip with Central African Wilderness Safaris (CAWS) to Liwonde, including educational activities and a safari, a self-catering stay for 12 at Madzi-kuwala in Mangochi provided by Ulendo group, and a one night stay at Kuti Wildlife Reserve with game drive. Educational activities provided by COOPI, and t-shirts for first and second place winders by Bev print shop.

Lilongwe Wildlife Trust would like to extend a huge thank you to the staff and volunteers who made this event such a huge success as well as all of our generous Wildlife Quiz sponsors! Thank you for your support!
