On March 10, Malawi’s Department of National Parks & Wildlife along with the Lilongwe Wildlife Trust celebrated World Wildlife Day at the Lilongwe Nature Sanctuary.
The celebration came a week after World Wildlife Day was celebrated internationally on March 3, however that is a national holiday for Malawi. Despite the late celebration, the event was well attended and was a tribute to future generations.
Several dignitaries along with numerous school children were in attendance to celebrate the theme “Listen to the Young Voices”, with many of the schools participating through original dramas, songs, poems and artwork.
The program included remarks by guest of honor Mr. James Ali, Chief Director for Energy, Mr. Brighton Kumchedwa, Director of National Parks & Wildlife and Holly Tett, British High Commissioner.
