This little baboon was rescued from a roadside seller near Cape Maclear by a kindly lodge manager who drove him all the way up to us in Lilongwe. He came in dehydrated but alert, curious, and very vocal. This little guy is only 3-4 weeks old, and in the wild would always be attached to his mother’s belly at this age. Our volunteers and orphan care staff are spending all day with him to help him gain confidence. He is also being introduced to our other baboon orphan – Haggis, pictured in one of the photos – so hopefully they will become fast friends.
Despite being young and tiny, we have high hopes for this little baboon as each day he gains more and more confidence and gets more and more curious, healthy, and sociable.
