Community Outreach

The Life Skills Programme

2009 sees an important step forward in the development of the Wildlife Centre's community outreach programme. In addition to marketing local crafts and products, providing free visit to the centre, the Centre will be concentrating efforts on the following 4 programmes:

Sport:

• Run for Wildlife
• Wildlife Soccer League

Culture:

• Yearly Cultural Event
• Cultural Group Workshops (inviting schools to Participate)
• Creating opportunities for cultural groups

Food Security:

• LSPCA Farming Project
• Development of markets for free range chicken
• Access to cheap fire wood
• Farming diversification workshops

Education:

• Wildlife Conservation
• Environmental
• Global Friends Award
• Health (HIV Aids/Malaria/TB)

Efforts and funding will be concentrated on 12 secondary schools which will double as locations for outreach activities to the local communities. Any funding for other projects such as boreholes that may come in will be channelled into these schools.
